Do the Right Thing

"Do the Right Thing" nominations are due to me by Wednesday, September 10th.  Please try to nominate one student from your class.  Please make sure to write at least four sentences about each student that you are nominating.  You can put your completed nomination forms in my mailbox. You were given a nomination form in the "Do the Right Thing" packet that I placed in your mailbox.  There are also extra nomination forms in drawer #19 of the workroom.  Please see me if you have any questions.  Thank you.‬‪ ‬‬

Do The Right Thing

I placed a packet of information regarding "Do the Right Thing" in your mailbox.  Please read through the information.  "Do the Right Thing" is an incentive program that recognizes students who have exemplary behavior.  Included in the packet is a nomination form.  Please make copies of this nomination form.  There are also additional copies in drawer #19 in the workroom.  Nominations are due mid month.  I will inform you of the due date each month via email.  The first month's "Do the Right Thing" nominations are due to me no later than Wednesday, September 10.

Schools get tough on bullies

Broward has become the first Florida school district to put in place a new anti-bullying policy Starting this week, Broward schools are rolling out a new computerized system for reporting and tracking bullying. State lawmakers passed a measure earlier this year requiring all districts adopt comprehensive anti-bullying policies by December.

In Miami-Dade County, a 2006 anti-bullying and violence program requires schools to offer a comprehensive curriculum for all grades, widespread training for administrators and counselors, and working to make it clear that bullying won't be tolerated.

To meet the new state standards, Miami-Dade officials said that they also are working on a clear, uniform definition of bullying and standards for dealing with the problem. The new definition and standards will be included in updated school manuals.

SPOT Success

ALL STAFF,
We are looking to reward students who are doing positive things at Parkway Elementary. For the remainder of the year, please provide me with the names of these students and the reason why they should be acknowledged. There is no limit on how many different rewards are issued to a particular class or student, so please take advantage of this resource.

Below are just some examples.

Works hard in school.
Helpful or courteous to others.
Truthful.
Exhibits good behavior in class or cafeteria.
Completes all assignments.
Attends school regularly and on-time.
Respects School Property.
Performs Community Service.

Child Assault Prevention

The Child Assault Prevention training for all classes will begin next Tuesday. Members from CAP (Child Assault Prevention) will be coming to your class to do an hour presentation sometime between Tuesday and Friday of next week. Ms. Schwartz will put the schedule with your specific training time in your mailboxes by tomorrow.

Please turn in your surveys for CAP from the faculty meeting to Ms. Schwartz by Friday and see her if you have any questions.
