Construction Update

Yes!! Yes!! Yes!! The construction at our school never ends. As part of our alarm project, please note that on Thursday, February 8 and Friday, February 9, safety netting we be in place on the south and west side of our KG pod and basketball court. We ask that you takes this information into account as you supervise your students.

Parent-Teacher Conference Sessions

The newly ratified contract stipulates that opportunites for positive parent-school relationships be provided during afternoon and evening conferences. Students will be released early in order for teachers to meet and confer with parents. Teachers will be paid for the scheduled evening parent conferences.

April 11, 2007
- Afternoon Session: From dismissal of students until the end of the normal workday for teachers.
- Evening Session: 4:30 - 8:00 P.M.

FCAT changes in the works, Gov. Crist says

Gov. Charlie Crist will roll out a proposal this week to make changes to how the state uses and administers the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. Details to come.

Please submit your list of potential retainees to Dr. K by Wednesday, January 31. In case, clarity is needed.

1) Use the form that Ms. Abner provided for you in our faculty meeting

2) Complete all available information on that form. While you are unable to provide me with parent conference dates at this time, please make sure to provide with the student's grades as requested on the form.AGAIN!!!

Video Recommendations - You Tube

I am now able to post videos through "You Tube" on our blog. If you locate a video which you think may be appropriate for our site, please send me the link for my review.
You may access your choice of videos through the "You Tube" website.

In addition, if you have an appropriate video which you developed, it must first be uploaded to "You Tube" as well.

2007-2008 Calendar Approved

The calendars that were developed by the UTD/MDCPS Ad Hoc Calendar Committee have been approved. In a vote conducted on the UTD web page, UTD bargaining unit members voted 81% to 19% to support the proposed calendars. The School Board also approved the proposed calendars at their meeting on January 17, 2007.

Dolphin Day

As a follow-up to the e-mail I sent you last week regarding Dolphins Day this Thursday, please note the schedule again below.

3rd and 5th grades will participate from 9:30- 10:45
2nd and 4th grades will participate from 12:20- 1:35

As I hope you can see, this activity only comprises a portion of the day for our school.

In addition, in case clarity is needed, all other special areas classes (Art, Music, and Spanish) will take place as scheduled, as long as your specific area class is NOT on the field during your assigned time.

Special Area Teachers (Art, Music & Spanish)
In instances where your class may conflict with the Dolphin Day schedule, please use that time for additional planning.
